#07 Artificial intelligence serves ecology

It's hard to say how much time we have left to stop the catastrophic effects of climate change. But one thing is sure: it is up to us what kind of world we leave to our children and grandchildren. A team of experts from Amister, a company from Piekary Śląskie, is working on an innovative system that allows better management of electricity in companies and institutions, in order to reduce its losses.

What kind of world do we want to leave for the next generation? That’s what we asked ourselves before we started developing an innovative system to optimize energy efficiency in the SME sector and public buildings. Today, we are all experiencing big changes in the energy economy.

We are abandoning fossil fuels in favor of renewable energy. We compete in ecological and environmentally friendly solutions, which can be seen in the increasing number of photovoltaic panels on our houses. However, these solutions mainly revolve around power generation. And we're looking for systems that manage electricity well and waste it as little as possible. This is where we have directed our attention and efforts. We developed an AI-based information system that visualizes and analyzes energy consumption in real time and generates recommendations on how to reduce that consumption. With reliable data, we can offer customers viable ways to reduce losses. What is important, for each recipient we prepare individual solutions to genuinely maximize the effects. It should be made clear that there are other similar solutions on the market today, but none use artificial intelligence to this extent and none are tailored to specific customers.

At first, our solution was applied in two places: in the Municipal Hospital in Piekary Śląskie and the Nautica aquapark in Gorzyce. These are two very different facilities, and therefore two serious challenges. The effects of the work surprised us all, because the system works better than we assumed at the design stage.

Although our solutions are primarily aimed at public entities and the SME sector, in the end we all benefit from them because we live in the same place and are responsible for how we use the available resources. By helping to reduce energy waste we can help reduce the carbon footprint.

We often hear about the great possibilities and wide application of artificial intelligence. It turns out, however, that apart from large international companies, hardly anyone decides to use it in practice in their "own backyard". We have an excellent team of professionals at our company. So we rose to the challenge and decided to develop an innovative solution for detecting and then preventing energy loss. Our solution uses a neural network to identify how a facility's energy system is performing, how energy consumption is progressing and where the greatest energy losses are occurring. Artificial intelligence perfectly manages the entire process, collecting data in one place, a specially developed application. You can say that it is a kind of dashboard, where you can see the entire energy consumption with full analytics. The data is clear and understandable for the user, and, above all, very precise. We start our work with a facility audit. Later, we present an output report to the client. Next, we set the expectations and the target effect to achieve with amiMeasure. Once everything is clear, the most tedious and complicated part begins, which is programming the system. Once the coding is complete, it takes another few days to install and deploy the sensors. However, the effects are measurable, so consider the time to create the system as an investment.

AmiMeasure is an end-to-end solution that analyzes the problem from the beginning to the end. This approach allows us to reduce energy waste while maximizing energy use. As a result, companies and institutions are able to operate more efficiently without adding to environmental pollution and increasing emissions of harmful gases and dust.
